The conditions couldn't have been better to drive us 273 miles to home in two days from Manasquan, NJ. Wind, waves and tide carried us up the rest of the Jersey Coast, through NYC and up Long Island Sound to Old Saybrook the first day. We intended to stop for a night at Cuttyhunk but again the conditions were too perfect to pass up. We flew up Buzzard's Bay and caught the tide in the canal. Again we thought we would stop at the east end of the canal but Cape Cod Bay was flat and it was cold. The comfort level of the boat moving with the bus heater running was enticing. Chicken went in the oven at Harding's Ledge and we pulled into Hull just in time for dinner at 6:30.
Seven months and a week have passed since we closed the door to our house last fall. It feels good to be home!
The photo of the right whale is a reminder to be on the lookout on the water. Four years ago, we crossed paths with many of these guys off Farnum Rock so we were watching. This is one of two we passed off Manomet Pt. Stopping to figure out how many and what direction they were moving, they took a close pass before we were able to move around them. Wonderful sight!
